Forodhani Gardens in Zanzibar are spread in a 1.4-acre area, located on the Western seafront of Stone Town. This park is one of the major attractions of the town and is definitely worth a visit. Forodhani means 'customs' and the garden is close to the site of the original customs house. The gardens were first laid out in 1936 in honour of the Silver Jubilee of Sultan Khalifa (sultan from 1911 to 1960), and were called Jubilee Gardens until the 1964 Revolution.
